The issuing date of RTM and GA for Windows Server 2008 R2 & Windows 7

The RTM and general availability (GA) dates of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 are as follows:

  • Windows 7 RTM:   On track for July 2009 (2nd half)
  • Windows 7 GA:     October 22, 2009
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 RTM:   On track for July 2009 (2nd half)
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 GA:     October 22, 2009

Microsoft will release Windows 7 as originally designed

This week, Microsoft reaffirmed its intention to ship Windows 7 by the end of the year. But, although the software giant still hasn’t revealed the exact date when it will deliver Windows 7 to the OS, it is coyly getting ever more specific over time: Now, the company says Windows 7 will be ready in time for the holidays.
